There's Just Something Different About A WaterHog

Why the Worlds Most Disrespected Mat is Actually... Insanely Respected.

Becoming the world's most famous floor mat doesn't just happen overnight. It's taken nearly four decades of testing, refinement, and people beating the tar out of their WaterHog mats to earn the title of "World's Most Disrespected Mat."

And you know what? We wouldn't have it any other way.

Over the past 40 years, people have trusted WaterHog mats to lay at the forefront of their homes and businesses and endure the tremendous responsibility of protecting their floors against relentless foot traffic and cruel, unforgiving weather conditions. The world has counted on WaterHog to step up and take the brutality of everyday living in and around entryways and doorways.

Why? Because people around the world trust (and respect) WaterHog doormats and floor mats more than any other mat in the world.

The Original Bi-Level Mat

It was nearly 40 years ago in Dalton, GA when Robb Andersen, the father of WaterHog, discovered a process that created a molded product unlike anything ever before seen. It featured two effective layers backed by rubber; a top layer that served to scrape, and a bottom layer to capture and filter (i.e. "bi-level.")

And just like that, the WaterHog was born.

We'll continue to manufacture the world's toughest, most disrespected mats by respecting the people who work tirelessly everyday to make them.

Built to be Battered & Beloved

We've Spent Decades Putting WaterHog Through Hell.

No floor mat on the planet has been through as much testing and refinement as WaterHog. All you have to do is look at the materials we use and you'll understand why it puts other mats to shame.

Real mats use rubber, decorations use vinyl & pvc. The durable rubber we make in-house serves as the foundation for every WaterHog. That's why businesses with unrelenting foot traffic across the globe choose WaterHog to take a beating at their doors and entryways. Guaranteed to never crack, rot, or crumble.

No other company puts the surface of their mats through more hell before they ever make it out the door than WaterHog. We burn it, stretch it, scrape it, and soak it before it ever has a chance to see the light of day.

A Change for Good

In 2019, after making significant investments in our production processes, WaterHog transitioned from polypropylene to recycled PET fibers. As a result, the WaterHog's legendary fiber surface, known for it's durability, stain & fade resistance, is now made with at least 90% recycled materials.

Forever Respected

There will never be a bigger advocate for WaterHog than Lynn Cochran. So much of the success and growth of WaterHog is attributed to the work and sacrifices made by Lynn. We lost Lynn in May of 2011 to an extended battle with cancer. We still think of him every day.

Lynn, you will always be missed, and always respected.
