Features & Benefits
  • Bi-Level Design - WaterHog created and perfected the bi-level mat. Scrapes up top, traps down low. Eats dirt. Drinks snow.

  • Absorbent - no mat crams as much surface area into a single square inch as ours. Nothing holds water like a hog.

  • Easy to Clean - sweep it, vacuum it, hose it down. Nobody will ever know what you put it through.

  • Colorfast - WaterHog is engineered to maintain its vibrant color. Let loose on it. It won't lose its luster.

  • Serious Grip - every WaterHog is rubber backed and NFSI certified. So go ahead, put it in its place. It'll stay there.

  • Eco-Friendly - made with recycled PET and rubber. Built to last a lifetime.

  • No Bad Here - free of PVC, phthalates, formaldehyde, latex, and PFAS (forever chemicals)

  • Made in the USA - all WaterHog mats are made in Dalton & LaGrange, GA
Size & Specs
  • All sizes are approximate and may have a variance +/-3%

Know Before You Buy
  • Size Variation - The manufacturing process subjects our mats to a
variation in size of up to 3%.  For example, if 23” x 35.5” is the listed
size of the item, it could come out as small as 22.3” x 34.4” or as large as 23.7” x 36.6”.

  • Color Variation - All WaterHog surface colors have a set of standards that include a level of tolerance. While we are highly consistent, there is a chance for a slight variance in color, especially between mats that are purchased years apart.

  • Have Vinyl Floors?  Our mats feature high-quality rubber backing to aid in both durability and performance.  Rubber is safe for most floor types including hardwoods, ceramic and porcelain tile, natural stone, concrete, and some vinyl.  If you have vinyl flooring (LVT/LVP, sheet vinyl, vinyl tile), please refer to your manufacturer’s care guide.  Some vinyl flooring contains plasticizers that may leach out over time and react with rubber and other substances which could result in discoloration. If your flooring manufacturer instructs you to specifically avoid rubber, we encourage you to heed their warning.

  • Surface Colors - from far away you'd never know, but take a closer look and you'll notice that each WaterHog surface color is actually made up of several different shades and colors of fibers. Make sure to look at the zoom images provided on this page and our color guide for more information.

Slightly different than others

I have four other Waterhog mats in different patterns in my home that were purchased over several years. In the past I opened the box, put them on the floor and had no problem with them having a rubber smell or not flattening out. These had more rubber smell when they came out of the box and we put them outside multiple times before we felt like the smell had diminished . The back of the mat looks the same as the others have but obviously we cannot know if the manufacturing materials have changed a bit. I do like the pattern and the color/ shade I wanted is not easy to find so we will keep these . I will continue to buy Waterhog because they really hold up for a very ,very long time with my indoor use. I have never put them outside but I think they would still do very well because of the way they are made.

Hey Maureen, and thank you for the honest review. It is normal for a new mat to have a slight odor to it (much like new tennis shoes). This is due to the 'off-gassing' of rubber, and will typically go away in a day or two after being out of the box. We address this on our Mat Care Guide that's linked in a post-purchase email and also featured in our website header and footer menus.

Extremely wet, muddy boots and dog on a large WaterHog mat. Dog is shaking out on top of the mat.
